Let it go! Lucy fa!

Lately I have found myself reading extensively about the Beijing UN Women Conference in 1995 which turned around conversations towards gender parity across the globe. Following the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill, I have tried blogging about the news but haven’t gotten myself to finish a single post because I still find the subject broad and too much for my fickle brain.

Let it go

Anyway, today the topic sprang up in my head again and I decided to sit my butt down and put something together and so here goes. You see, you may think the subject of inequality is been shoved down men’s throat but that’s not the case. Personally, I get to witness and experience some of the horrors meted out against women daily, myself included, and so I think it should be an everyday discussion.

You may say, “Anima let it go” but I am here to share my two cents. My take…

When God threw Lucifer out of the heavens, at some point he still got him to air his voice and even invited him into his presence concerning Job’s case right? Good.

Affirmative what?

Let’s jaw-jaw. Women’s health, women leadership, women businesses, land and property ownership, dispute resolution and a whole lot more are still finding women struggle and we speak of Affirmative Action?

When last did you ask a woman to let her hair down so you take care of her. When did you sit to really listen to her opinion and not just treat it as one of her rants. When did you not call an ambitious woman “bayifuo” and expect her to sit her ass down somewhere. When last did you not drum it to your wife not to have only girls but to have male children because they would be an heir to your inheritance and “continue” your family legacy.

Gen What?

Yeah I know this generation is woke and all so gender activists need to take a break. Millennials are educated bla bla bla. Gen Z are tech driven and don’t really care about the gender bias. Well, Gen Alpha is still brewing and we all know this conversation is not over yet.

In the meantime, I will go back to minding my business. Tomorrow is another day and we shall call on Lucy again.

Hopefully she’ll pick up the call for gender equality then I shall write to you another piece.
