The first African Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozie Okonjo-Iweala, has made her first appearance at the organisation’s headquarters, as she is geared towards making her mark across the globe.
Dr Okonjo-Iweala, after much resistance from the former American President, Donald Trump, has made one the greatest feats, to be elected first woman and first African to chair the organisation.
In previous interviews about the resistance to her appointment, the twice finance minister had this to say,
“If you encounter a problem because you are a woman and you’re Black and you’re African, take that problem, that weakness they have, and make it your strength,” she said. “Keep going.”
