The young Ghanaian Junior High School (JHS) graduate, Kelvin Odartey, who built a car from scraps to gain nationwide publicity has been presented with the Young Promising Role Model star award for his innovation. Kelvin was among ten high profile personalities who were honored at the just ended 11th MTN Pulse Transform Summit with support from the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition.
Kelvin Odartey started gaining popularity after he designed and made his own Lamborghini-like car built with metal scraps. His story is that of determination and hardwork and he wishes to build better car brands when given the needed support and assistance.
So far, the young Ghanaian automaker has met with industry players like the CEO of Katanka Automobile, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, through the help of the TV show host, Dentaa Amaoteng. Mr Safo has promised to take care of his education and to give him a chance at working with the Katanka Group.
In acceptance of the award, here’s what Kelvin posted on his wall:
“I want to say a very big thank you to the organizers of YPYC for recognising my good works and for awarding me. I am extremely honored to be receiving such an important award (Young Promising Role Model star). I am earnestly grateful for the recognition of my work, I hope and pray for your support so that I can execute the remaining project ahead and bring it to a reality, thank you all for the support and God bless us. @nana_adjoanhyira @dentaa_show @Mr Andy Osei Okrah.”
