A lot goes into the work of a creative, be it a musician, artist, poet, song writer, blogger, podcaster, vlogger, author, you name it. Most parents, in my part of the world, will not encourage their children to become creatives because they think their jobs are not very well defined and that people in those careers seem a bit defiant. As an arts educator and workshop curator, I have decided to use my space to do a little bit of education on the benefits individuals in the creative arts industry, as well as, arts organisations like Nubuke Foundation and Roverman Productions have on the Ghanaian economy.
Creativity and Innovation
By providing grants, residencies, and other forms of support, a foundation can nurture emerging artists, giving them the resources they need to develop their talents and contribute new perspectives to the arts. Graphic designers and writers, for example, are changing the workspace with their creative minds as their impact is felt on most artworks that we see around.
Community Engagement
Arts and culture initiatives often serve as a gathering point for communities, fostering a sense of belonging and shared identity. Events, exhibitions, and performances bring people together and encourage dialogue on very important social topics.
Social Impact
Art can be a powerful tool for social change. Foundations can support projects that address social justice, inequality, and environmental issues, using art to provoke thought and inspire action. By supporting a diverse range of artists and cultural expressions, foundations contribute to a richer, more inclusive global arts community.
Economic Development
A vibrant arts and culture scene can attract tourists, boosting local economies. The National Commission on Culture often play a role in creating and promoting cultural events and attractions. By funding local artists and projects, foundations contribute to the economic vitality of their communities, helping artists make a living from their work.
Global Connections
They facilitate international collaborations and exchanges, allowing artists to share their work across borders and gain new insights from different cultural contexts. Arts and culture industries promote diversity by supporting a diverse range of artists and cultural expressions, foundations contribute to a richer, more inclusive global arts community.
