Rosa is the President and CEO of The Whitaker Group (TWG), a leading transaction advisory, investment and project development firm specializing in Africa, which she founded in 2003. TWG has been the firm of choice for multinational corporations investing and expanding market share in Africa in ways that achieve both commercial and human development dividends.
Rosa Whitaker’s exceptional career includes her service as a US diplomat and her work on Capitol Hill as Senior Trade Advisor to the then Congressman Charlie Rangel.
In 2007, she became and still remains co-founder and Vice Chair of Dominion Television (DTV), a faith-based pan-African multimedia television network with millions of viewers across Africa via DStv.
She has been recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on African trade and investment. As a key architect of the US African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) while serving as a senior staff member in the US House of Representatives, Rosa spearheaded a revolution in US-African economic relations. She was the first-ever Assistant US Trade Representative for Africa.
Rosa Whitaker has received numerous honors, including being named one of Foreign Policy Magazine’s Top 100 Global Thinkers. She is currently the president of Mercy Ships a global faith-based charity operating the world’s largest private hospital ship. She is also the wife of Archbishop Duncan Williams, the founder and leader of Action Chapel International.
