The room was quiet, atmosphere tense, audience buoyant, and the room electrified as the three finalists, Presbyterian Boy’s Secondary School, Opoku Ware School, and Adisadel College, hassled each other for the 2020 NSMQ Championship title.

The contest was obviously not going to be an easy task for the three competing schools as they fumbled their way through the first round of the contest. The audience were met with dissatisfaction when their favorite schools took turns to answer each set of questions wrongly at the first round of the contest. However, Presbyterian Boy’s Secondary School garnered enough points in that round. Disappointed faces hid behind masks of supporters who still remained calm yet awashed in betrayal with the contest moving on to the second round without any high scores.

The competition began to get a bit keen at the second round with the flow of questions and answers. Adisadel College only came close to winning the Prudential Life NSMQ Star worth GH₵4000 after answering the Problem of the Day at the third round to accrue eight points.

All the same, the Presbyterian Boy’s School kept their forte although they were almost overtaken by Mbebo Nonna of Adisadel College at the True or False segment at the fourth round, when he attempted and answered all except one of the questions in that round correctly .

The winning team made up of Benjamin Quansah Nketiah, Gakpetor Daniel Kekeli and Isaac Gyamfi led their school to victory by the close of the last round of the competition with a massive 36 points which won them the AirtelTigo Highest Scorer of the Day Award.

The winners and their teachers received numerous prize packages from the various sponsors, partners and stakeholders. Other prize packages for the winners and contestants from other participating schools are enlisted as follows.

The Presidential Scholarship which was worth USD40,000 went out to Daniel Gakpetor of the Presbyterian Boy’s Secondary School and was presented to him by the Academic City University.

The Dr. Kwaku Mensah-Bonsu Award for the Most Impressive Run went out to Aburi Presby SHTS. They also took away the Jacob and Elizabeth Banful Memorial Award GH₵10,000 for the Most Impression Run from a less endowed school.

For the Eugene Arhin Speed Award, Opoku Ware School won GH₵2000, Adisadel College received GH₵3000, while Presec Legon received GH₵5000.

The Newmont Ghana Golden Journey Award worth GH₵20,000 went out to Boaponsem SHS for their impressive performance during the contest.

The female contestants of Ghana National College took home the Prof Elizabeth Mensah-Bonsu Most Outstanding Female Contestants Award.

The Dano Inner Strength Award went out to Boaponsem SHS worth a three months supply of assorted Dano Milk products
