Farmerline has launched the ‘Support a Farmer Initiative’, one of the most important campaigns in the company’s history. The company and its staff has pledged GH¢200,000 to kick off the project.

Farmers across Ghana are just weeks away from the end of planting season; yet more than half of those we recently surveyed still haven’t applied any fertilizer to their crops.

An additional 33% said they’ve only partially applied the fertilizer they need. Leaving just 10% feeling confident about growing and harvesting the food we eat.

Although much can not be done to stop fertilizer shortages and massively increasing prices across the globe, Farmerline’s Support a Farmer Initiative aims to mitigate its impact by raising money to provide 250,000 bags of discounted fertilizer to 25,000 farmers.

According to the CEO of Farmerline, Alloysius Attah, “The company is confident it will reach the GH¢1 million crowdfunding goal. However, this is less about money and more about providing an avenue for everyday Ghanaians to stand in solidarity with the farming community as they ride this turbulent wave. Literally every cedi counts, and it’s inspiring to see the donations already coming in from passionate members of the public who want to make a difference”.

So far there are partners, celebrities, media and influencers currently helping to spread the word. Some celebrities who are onboard include, Naa Ashorkor, Deloris Frimpong Manso, John Dumelo, among others.
