The Do Ghana Travel Festival is designed to engage the public on tourism and travel in Ghana especially within the Ghanaian jurisdiction in a pandemic era when Ghana is positioning itself as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination in order to diversify the country’s tourism.
The webinar which is its second edition will provide a platform for industry players to share ideas on how to strengthen the tourism industry. Key practitioners and experts will dialogue on the possible solutions to the travel consumer’s perspective of domestic tourism,
It will also provide a platform for discussion on how the industry can navigate through tourism post COVID-19.
Tourism development being a key factor in Ghana’s economic growth is why this webinar is so relevant in these times.
Experts have also indicated that MICE is also the key to a positive tourism growth in a digitally inclined world. Most tourism industries may have been largely affected by the pandemic but the domestic tourism sector can take cues from the webinars to revamp their industry. The art of coordination, organising, and planning can be adjusted to fit the current dispensation.
Activities and events such as a conference, incentive tour or event, a concert, an exhibition or sporting activity, are all gears towards the MICEs and are very important in accelerating the tourism industry in Ghana.
It has been the pillar of growth for many developed countries, with the economies of many advanced countries hinged on this aspect of tourism for many years.
More and more destinations are promoting their MICE segment, alongside the traditional leisure segment, seeing it as a way to reduce the seasonal limitations of leisure travel, and fill hotel beds all year round.
The webinar event will be hosted at the Grand Arena of the International Conference Center from July 15 to August 15, which will be a month long National Travel and Tourism Month.
